Introduction to the Garmin G1000

A Short Course for CAP Pilots

The Civil Air Patrol has over two hundred G1000-equipped Cessnas (primarily 182s although a few 206s are included) in the fleet nationally. Pilots transitioning into the G1000 aircraft must go through standard FITS training prior to Form 5 or Form 91 endorsement. This generally involves approximately three hours of ground training and two training flights prior to the Form 5 VFR checkride.

The purpose of this short course is to prepare pilots in advance for the standard training. It will provide a relatively detailed overview of the entire G1000 system at the VFR level.
